I’ve written elsewhere about what it means to be a conscious or ethical consumer. And a number of ways to become a more conscious and ethical consumer too.
What follows is my constantly growing directory of sustainable fashion brands for men making and selling sustainable, eco-friendly, fair trade, ethical or natural fashion, in the USA & Canada.
I know from experience that it can be hard to find good quality sustainable men’s fashion in an often women’s-first marketplace, so I’m maintaining this list as an easy reference for any time you want to update your wardrobe.
US designers are at the leading edge of ethical fashion so within these links you’ll find everything you need, from street style, to shoes, bags and office wear.
And if you’re based in Europe, there are loads of exceptional ethical fashion brands too – check out my Ultimate List of European Ethical, Sustainable Eco-Friendly or Natural fashion brands here, or my list of European Ethical, Sustainable & Eco-Friendly Shoes & Accessories for Men.
I’ll add to this directory as and when I hear about new brands, so if you represent or know of any labels that belong on this list, please email me at manbodyspirit@gmail.com.
Note: We have affiliation with only a few of these companies whom we vet closely to ensure they meet our sustainable and ethical standards. We have not necessarily tried the products of all of them.

Using fully natural ingredients, allbirds operate as a fully carbon neutral business and go way beyond, with initiatives focused on regenerative agriculture, consistent natural material innovation and clean energy.
Oh, and did we mention that their shoes are also insanely comfortable?

The Good Tee (Canada)
If you’re in need of some quality basics take a peek at the broad variety of cool t-shirts this Canadian brand has to offer. All their items are fully bio-degradable, without any elastics (meaning no plastic is used), and they are fully transparent about their supply chain, from seed to warehouse.

Krochet Kids
Initially starting out as three cute school friends with a shared passion for crocheting, the full Krochet Kids was born when the lads began international volunteer work during college. After an eye opening stint in Uganda, the group came up with the idea of teaching people in developing countries how to crochet as a means of breaking the cycle of poverty. Since starting in 2007 they have employed hundreds of people in Uganda and Peru to create a broad array of high quality ‘gifts that give back’.

Outerknown
11 time World Surf Champion, Kelly Slater, and acclaimed designer, John Moore founded Outerknown to make clothing that respects the planet. They’re very ambitious, too – their goal is to reduce global carbon emissions by 1%, and they do this with localised sourcing, low impact fabrics, and on-demand manufacturing.
Their jeans will be a perfect fit for you because they’re kinda tailor-made – they scan your body to create a pair of jeans made just for you and therefore reduce waste. You can use your phone to scan yourself, and the jeans will be made only once you order them! No inventory – no waste.
Unspun uses 24% less carbon dioxide and 30% fewer chemicals to produce a pair of jeans compared to traditional jeans manufacturers.
You can customise your jeans and even schedule an online appointment with their denim specialist.

Wama is a brand devoted to producing breathable underwear for both men and women, and they pride themselves on the fact that their factories use 18% less energy than factories that work with cotton, due to sustainable farming practices.
Wama underwear has antibacterial properties and gets softer with every wash. The hemp is grown on family-owned organic farms and everyone is paid a fair wage.
First off I would like to say terrific blog!
I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear
your head prior to writing. I have had a tough time clearing my mind in getting
my ideas out there. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like
the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or
tips? Appreciate it!
Good day! I simply would like to offer you a big thumbs up for
the excellent information you’ve got right here on this post.
I am returning to your site for more soon.
